Baxter Robot - 3D Printed


Modeling and Simulation student Kenny W. is using (free) Autodesk 123D Catch software to make a 3D printed model of Baxter the Robot. The process consist of taking 40 -70 digital photos 360 degrees around Baxter, then loading them into the software. After which the real work begins with time consuming stitching of the mesh and converting to a usable file for the printer.

Planetarium Visit


Modeling and Simulation students visited the Tidewater Community College Planetarium for a behind the scenes look at the 3d graphics used in presentations at the facility. TCC Professor Ken Broun provided students with information about the lasers, software and the controls used to maneuver space objects on the planetarium doom. Students are creating space objects in a competition with hopes of having their space designs displayed on the planetarium doom in the future.
